
Remind me about the Open again….
The entire CrossFit world performs the same workouts each Friday over a 3 week period. The fittest in the world qualify for their spot in the CrossFit Games and for the rest of us this is simply a fun way to feel more connected to the broader CrossFit community.
At LBCF we make our own mini-team competition to join in on the fun; this is known as the LBCF Cup! It is a very simple format, if you choose to partake you are assigned to a team of 10-15 athletes. The top 5 scores on each team are accumulated to arrive at a total team score. At the end of each week Teams are ranked by their scores; over the course of 3 weeks our LBCF Cup Champion is crowned!
Since you are already starting to design some excuses in your mind, let’s think of some reasons to join in:
- Community is what makes CrossFit special! Events like this don’t happen anywhere else, remember that we are here to support one another; the LBCF Cup is just another opportunity to support and be supported!!
- You will be more likely to attempt something you are afraid of! If we simply did the same things each and every day we would never progress. In the Open you will have to do something you think you might not be ready for…..oftentimes you are ready!!
- You will already be doing the workouts! The Open workouts are released by CrossFit on Thursday and are programmed on Fridays at LBCF.
- You get to test where you are at and see how you progress year after year. What skills have you learned from last year? How much stronger have you gotten? How much has your capacity changed?
Disclaimer 1: You are not required to perform / complete all workouts. The beauty of our design is that only the top scores for that week contribute to your team’s score. One week you may be the MVP and the next you may be traveling for work.
Disclaimer 2: You do not have to be an “Rxer” to participate. CrossFit writes multiple versions of the workout (Rx, scaled, masters (think age groups starting at 35 and going up to 60+)) so everyone can be included.
