Over the past year, we’ve been working on something outside of LiftBridge CrossFit: developing our own athletic socks.
Like most of you, I’ve gone through plenty of different socks over the years. From cheap Costco packs (I still love that place) to synthetic running socks and everything in between.
Eventually, I started researching merino wool, and the more I learned, the more I wondered why we weren’t all wearing it.
Here’s what makes merino wool different:
- It’s a natural fiber. Unlike synthetic materials made from petroleum, wool comes from sheep.
- It doesn’t stink like synthetic socks. Merino wool naturally resists odor buildup, even after long workouts.
- It regulates temperature. Wool helps manage moisture and temperature, keeping your feet more comfortable whether you’re sweating through a workout or wearing them on a cold Minnesota day.
- It’s incredibly comfortable. Fine merino fibers are soft against your skin, without the scratchy feeling people often associate with traditional wool.
But there were two problems: merino wool socks are expensive, and they always seem to look goofy. Weird patterns, colors, and designs that just aren’t my style.
So I wondered: could I build exactly what I wanted without the big price tag?
After several rounds of samples, testing, and adjustments, FLOCK Socks Version 1 is officially here.
Our first product is a lightweight merino wool no-show sock with everything you need and nothing you don’t: targeted cushioning at the heel and forefoot, front and heel tabs to minimize irritation, a supportive arch band to help keep the sock in place, and ventilation to help keep your feet cool.
We’re selling them in 2-pair packs for $20.99.
